Anna May Wong




















In typical arrogant fashion, studio executives constantly cast the most famous Asian-American actress of the
silent film era into racially stereotypical roles such as the "Dragon Lady." The dragon lady was a racist depiction of East Asian women as villainous and wicked.

Anna May Wong worked her whole life to dispel these stereotypes and to be considered a serious actress.

She succeeded to some degree, but was often disappointed. In any case, she left behind a legacy of empowerment and beauty.
